Monday Moments

It's been a while.

Awkward:

  • I was speed walking to class, shoving a granola bar trying not to be late, when all of the sudden a piece goes down the wrong pipe. Picture me still walking fast but wheezing and gasping with watery eyes. Don't worry, after chugging my half of my water bottle, I was fine.
  • Going to Smith's at 11pm on a Saturday with Taylor, only to find half of provo already there. Did I mention we were in sweats and looking mighty fine?
  • The loser who stole my nice camelback water bottle (with chill jacket) from the spinning room at the gym. You know who you are, thief.

Awesome:

  • 502 repins... what?
  • Getting a 99 out of 100 on my Anatomy lab test. Do you know how big this is? HUGE. It means I knew 99% of the lower body muscles, tendons, and ligaments. I love feeling smart.
  • The cool crisp days, knee high boots, wool socks, and warm soups and drinks.
  • On Saturday, my ward went to the Manti Temple. It was so incredibly beautiful and such a great way to spend the day.

In Other News

I started reading Harry Potter again. You see, I want to read the series again before I leave for my mission. I know, what am I thinking?

I read over some of my favorite parts in the book last night, and I couldn't help but document it.

Last night, I experimented with some tape and painted my nails. This was the result: (please ignore the messiness on the outside of my nails. I'm not perfect ok?)

I think they turned out pretty cool! The trick with tape is to stick it on your hand a few times before you put it on your nail. That way, your nail polish won't get peeled off along with the tape. Yay for cool nails!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween, my friends! On campus, I saw: a dinosaur, Marie Antoinette, Buddy the Elf, Indiana Jones, zombies, and a personal favorite: Fantastic Mr. Fox. I wanted to stop Mr. Fox and tell him how awesome his costume was, but he was taking the stairs by twos. I also saw a kid in an 80s get up with a huge boom box on his shoulder blasting 80s pop. I almost went up and hugged him.

I hope your day is full of pumpkins, soup, candy, and costumes. Have a fantastic Halloween!

To the future husband: We'll be Fantastic Mr. and Mrs. Fox one day for Halloween. If we have a son, he'll be Ash. It'll be a great time.

Backyard Boo

On Friday, one of our friends threw a backyard Halloween party. There was the classic donut on a string, pumpkin carving, and we even watched a scary movie (or rather, not so scary, complete waste of 2 hours, lame movie known as "The Box"). Before the party, I made pumpkin cupcakes, with a tasty cream cheese-pumpkin-nutmeg-cinnamon frosting. That is one recipe for the books, I tell ya.

Taylor, Kristen, Paige, Jessica, Sarah and I all went in on a group costume. We decided to be the characters from the board game Clue, and each of us brought our own weapons too! I think we looked pretty dang good.

Professor Plum, Mrs. White, Miss Scarlet, Colonel Mustard, Mrs. Peacock, Mr. Green

I think Paige and I make attractive men.

Mr. Green with the wrench, Mrs. Peacock with the lead pipe, Mrs. White with the candlestick, Miss Scarlet with the revolver, Colonel Mustard with the knife, Professor Plum with the rope.

It was such a fun night! I love Halloween!

P.S. Update on this famous pin... 363 repins! What!?

Looks Like I Need to go Back to Europe

It seems I was cooler while I was in the UK.

It's ok, I'm cool with going back so my blog will be popular again.

I Miss This

I'll come back to you someday, London.

Can't Get Enough

Due to previous blog posts centered around fall, I'm pretty sure you all are aware of how much I love fall. I. Love. It. Love.

Last night, Kelsey and I roasted pumpkin seeds and they turned out delicious.

We carved pumpkins on Friday (Jack Skeleton, can you tell?) and saved the seeds. And man,  I'm glad that we did. Who knew garlic salt and some butter could turn out so great?

Today, I had a two hour break. Instead of going home and watching an episode of Grey's or studying, I went on a drive up the canyon. It was just me, my DSLR, and Fleet Foxes. I cannot even begin to describe how relaxing it was. I stopped at a beautiful spot and took some pictures. I even scaled this big hill to get to one particularly colorful tree.

I can't think of a better way to spend a Wednesday afternoon.

To Happiness

1. That first burst of sunshine that fills the room when you open the curtains.
2. Wool socks.
3. Compliments from strangers.
4. Waking up hours before your alarm, then realizing you have more time to sleep.
5. When friends play with my hair or scratch my back.
6. Peeling an orange in one piece.
7. The sound of a crackling fire.
8. Cozying up with a good book and a blanket on a gloomy day.
9. When the lights first go off at a concert.
10. Changing in to sweatpants after a long day.

Monday Moments

Awkward:

  • This:

Yes, this is my light fixture hanging from my ceiling. This is the second time this has happened. Story time. I was sitting on my bed, studying. It was around 1:30 am (procrastinator alert), and I hear all these scratchy noises, like nails on glass. I'm getting legitimately freaked out, so I hop out of bed and go be the door. That's when I see my light free itself from the ceiling and start swinging around by the wire. I sucked myself to the corner in case it fell (that sucker was H-O-T) and once it calmed down, I put some wool socks on my hands, got on my chair and steadied it. I made sure it wouldn't fall, and you better believe I prayed that it wouldn't fall while I was sleeping. Did I mention this is the SECOND time?? Luckily my dad was there the first time to fix it. This time I'm making sure they glue that sucker to the ceiling.
  • So. Much. Studying.
  • Snow last week? We did have fall, it was from 12am to approximately 6am on Thursday morning. If you were sleeping, you missed it.

Awesome:
  • I got to chat with Charles Abouo at the football game. Not a big deal.
  • The snow has disappeared, thank goodness, and fall will now resume as planned.
  • These little cuties dropped off cookies on Conference Sunday. They are the cutest neighbors I ever did see!
